Stadtbümmeln Seoul

The Germans have a word for when you're just bumming around the city: Stadtbümmeln (lit: city-bumming). Last Saturday, I decided Hey, I live in a city of 11 million people, why not get out and enjoy it? So, instead of heading to a mountain to get out of the city, I decided to spend the day walking around the city. The first neighborhood I wanted to go to was Myeong-dong. Myeong-dong has A LOT of shopping and great energy. I also wanted to go to a neighborhood called Namdaemun. Actually, these two neighborhoods are right by each other, but I didn't know that at first!
I think the best way to express my Stadtbümmeln is through pics, so here goes:

The day started with getting my heels recapped. This can be done easily at any of the hundreds of shoe repair shacks around the city. Luckily, there's one on the way to the subway station!

All right! It's go time!

After a transfer, several subway stops, and walking a few blocks, I make it to Myeong-dong!

Here are the busy streets of Myeong-dong! Lots of stores, people, and street vendors. I love it!

After I made my way through Myeong-dong, I hopped back on the subway and headed over to Namdaemun. I really only had to go one stop, but Namdaemun is a much different kind of market...

Christmas fountain...oooooh....ahhhhh...

Apparentaly, Myeong-dong is within walking distance of Namdaemun...it's still crowded, even at night!
